“I need another story
Something to get off my chest
My life gets kind of boring
Need something that I can confess”

Alone, I have so much that’s on my mind.
I’m yearning to plead guilty to a friend;
Confessing all the weight of lies that blind,
And speculate which truth I want to send.
When time to think takes far more than it’s worth,
I need an outlet for my haunting thoughts.
They long for an escape into the earth,
And echo off these barriers unsought.
When life is dull, my mind gets so on edge.
Companionship is scarce, and leaves desire
For something more than just an inward pledge
To guard my furtive truths with displaced fire.

A longing for release to ease the burn

Makes passion—heat concealed and fact to learn.

“’Til all my sleeves are stained red
From all the truth that I've said
Come by it honestly I swear
Thought you saw me wink, no
I've been on the brink, so”

New battle scars are made from things confessed,
But, somehow, I don’t mind the toll it takes.
It’s overrated honesty we guessed,
But now we know that truth can have a place.
I never look away when I don’t hide.
That’s the funny thing about all lies:
They make a void that’s far too deep and wide
For anyone to look into your eyes.
I’m on the threshold, wanting to step out,
Away from limitations and no sound.
If silence will be shattered, I’ll choose how.
I must let something hidden become found.

“Don’t blink; look in my soul and speak with me.

I know it’s what you wanted secretly.”

“Tell me what you want to hear
Something that will light those ears
Sick of all the insincere
So I'm gonna give all my secrets away
This time, don't need another perfect lie
Don't care if critics ever jump in line
I'm gonna give all my secrets away”

Sometimes I wish you knew I want to talk
And bear my soul to someone for relief.
But if it’s only me, that’s when I stop—
For no one wants to give what’s not received.
Just say you want my secrets, and I’ll give,
Or ask me something that you want to hear.
To never listen is no way to live;
To always speak one-sided is my fear.
If interest sparked on what weighs down my soul,
I might get far too nervous to reveal…
Unless I just remembered I’m not whole
Until I let myself give something real.

So tell me what you want to hear, and wait

For everything that I’m about to say.

“My God, amazing how we got this far
It's like we're chasing all those stars
Who's driving shiny big black cars
And every day I see the news
All the problems that we could solve
And when a situation rises
Just write it into an album
Send it straight to gold
But I don't really like my flow, no, so”

Tell me what you want to hear
Something that will light those ears
Sick of all the insincere
So I'm gonna give all my secrets away

This time, don't need another perfect lie
Don't care if critics ever jump in line
I'm gonna give all my secrets away

Oh, got no reason, got no shame
Got no family I can blame
Just don't let me disappear
I'ma tell you everything
So tell me what you want to hear
Something that will light those ears
Sick of all the insincere
So I'm gonna give all my secrets away

This time, don't need another perfect lie
Don't care if critics ever jump in line
I'm gonna give all my secrets away
