I think in direful nights and dreams that haunt,
Though nightmares do not always come at night:
The day bestrewn all over with my thoughts
Is just as fearful to behold not bright.
I close my eyes and picture where I am
On this dark planet, in this dreary land,
And see I’m on the dark side of the earth,
The side where night has fallen through like sand.
The hourglass is not yet halfway done.
I’m staring at it, pressuring its end,
I know its expiration won’t yet come.
I know that time is what I must defend.
I’ve shown myself the perfect way to hell,
And that’s why I’m the most in need of help.
