My feet seem never to touch the ground
As I run to you, finally safe and sound.
You are my protector, my witness, my only alibi,
And I know that to me you will never, never lie.
When dark shadows creep over the verdant hills,
I know that there will be beacon candles in our window sills.
If I wake in the night from a dream turned nightmare,
To chase it away you'll brave even the dragon's lair.
Safe in the fortress of your arms I sleep at night,
Because your presence makes up for the absence of light.
You inhabit my dreams as well as my day;
I'll never let you go, no matter what they say.
When we've weathered the night and found that we're fine,
I'll still thank my lucky stars that you're mine.
