My Truth

What I feel is a burden, it is a curse
It seems now I’ve figured out that love hurts
And I’m sorry to say, but the pain feels so good
Don’t you think that I would stop if I could
You are my weakness
You are my love
You are my addiction
You’re my beautiful drug
The way you are I realize
I can never get enough
But you refuse to feel the same
I’ve heard it all way too much
I am pathetic
I am a fool
I know I should stop
But I’m falling for you.
I held you tight in my arms
Your scent is so sweet…
I want to kiss you on the neck,
And feel your heart as it beats
But I know you don’t feel the same
So I just close my eyes
And feel the warmth of your skin
I am yours and I pretend that
you are mine.

I loved it!! This poem expresses exactly what an unrequited love is all about. I liked the fact that you portrayed love as an addictive drug. Keep writing!
