I know who you are, you are just like Oz
Hiding behind a curtain, long and green
Insecurity is the likely cause
You act like everything is so serene
But I know the truth, I know that’s a lie
I know who you are inside, the real you
There are times I just want to say goodbye
But I stayed so that I would follow through
And keep my promise from a year ago.
Like Oz you manipulate my own trust
So now it’s time to leave, this much I know
I won’t look back; I’ll leave you in the dust
And now my future is so bright and clear
I’ll face the new days without any fear

The author's comments:
written for my English class last year. Inspiration came to me from the Paramore song "Turn it Off" the line that says "I can see behind the curtain." It made me think of the Wizard of Oz which made me write this. So thanks Hayley Williams!

This is sooo great! I never read poetry but the title just caught me! I'm a HUGE fan of the Wizard of Oz, and I think your writing is pretty great.: )
