I Never Knew

I never really felt happiness
Until I had felt real pain.
I never felt fulfillment
Until having felt so drained.

It wasn’t until I had been let down
That I knew the meaning of trust.
And I never felt true satisfaction
Until I had felt pure lust.

I never really knew relief
‘Till I’d felt so weighted down.
Or appreciated silence
Until my ears had filled with sound.

So I will keep my head high.
I will push through all the pain.
'Cause I’ve got nothing to lose.
And everything to gain.
