The Night

Shadows toss’d long by setting sun
You are not home, not yet return’d
I feel it’s true that you are gone
By foul play, though unconfirm’d

You’re more to me than sister, twin
You’re in my mind, you know my thoughts
Same blood ‘neath our shared skin
Do never think I have forgot

I’d know if you lived right this now
I’d feel it in my heart and bones
But as daylight fades to dusk, somehow,
The Night leaves me more than alone

You’re the silver in my mind, my dear
And it has all but dissapeared
