Measure my time

I measure a year by the fights I endure
I measure a year by the times I am sure
I am sure it is right
I am sure it is wrong
I think it is spite
When I think I’m so strong
I measure a year by the times I fall
I measure a year by the times I recall
I recall the times I wept all day
I recall the times I wanted to stay
But I had to go
I had to leave
No time for hello
Not a moment to grieve
I measure a year by the times I say Amen
I measure a year by the times I say it again
I say it with hope
And in times of trouble
I teach myself to cope
When the troubles have doubled
I measure a year by the hardships I face
I should measure a year by the moments of grace
