Thin veil, white dress,
She will soon be blessed.
Black shoes, gelled hair,
Worry in the air.

Strung up, bright lights,
What a beautiful night.
Cameras snap, smiles flash,
Back and forth like whiplash.

Little did they know what raced through each other’s minds,
Misleading to sin.
All this time they’ve been shielded and blind,
To where their lover’s been.

Setting sun, golden sky,
Love is now bone dry.
Nervous looks, tension,
Seems to be some miscommunication.

Beating hearts, cold noses,
She wears a corsage of roses.
Clammy hands, solid bible,
This counterfeit love is on trial.

Little did they know what raced through each other’s minds,
Misleading to sin.
All this time they’ve been shielded and blind,
To where their lover’s been.

Deep breaths, take a bow,
Stare into each other eyes, reciting the vows.
Step forth, sealed with a kiss,
But she desires someone else’s lips.

Holding hands, but,
He yearns for someone else’s touch.
Diamond, on the ring,
The graceful choir begins to sing.

Little did they know what raced through each other’s minds,
Misleading to sin
All this time they’ve been shielded and blind,
To where their lover’s been

Step forth, sealed with a kiss,
But she desires someone else’s lips.
Holding hands, but,
He yearns for someone else’s touch.

The author's comments:

I'm a teenager, so I have no experience with marriage. But I came up with this scenrio where a couple is getting married, but they don't love each other. They each are in love withe someone completely different, and that causes them to consider their options in this situation. The audience and scene doesn't realize this, and continues on as usual. Once again, I have no experience with relationships whatsoever. But I watch a lot of TV, and other than that, I'm old enough to understand how some things in reality work.
