I try to keep my distance

But I can't get away.

I would turn around

And you'd be in the way.

I've tried to reason

But you won't see the light.

You push and shove

In this never-ending fight.

And when I think there's peace,

You come back to hurt me.

You and I are toxic;

I can barely breathe.

I can barely think

When you're around me.

I want to scream

But I hold my tongue

Because words will only take us

Back to where we begun.

You don't see

My teary eyes

Because you speak above me

And in between the lines.

But I know you know

Because I told you.

Yet you stand here,

Acting without a clue.

All I want is peace.

All you want is to change me.

You and I are toxic;

I can barely breathe.

I can barely think

When you're around me.

I want to scream

But I hold my tongue

Because words will only take us

Back to where we begun,

Back to when we loved one another,

And back to when we both thought the same thing.

I know that we've both changed our opinions

But I wish our blood would run clean.

But you and I are toxic;

I can barely breathe.

I can barely think

When you're around me.

I want to scream

But I hold my tongue

Because words will only take us

Back to where we begun.
