"Stay gold." -The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton

Trapped on an island, can’t you see?
Chains only burning mildly
Miles from home, but honestly
I’m living out an odyssey

Maze of your ways is serpentine
Lysed, yes it is, this heart of mine
Labyrinth’s a tale of heroes past
Will my name go down if I last?

Down on the shore the waves pass by
Catching the teardrops that I cry
I feel you there, I cannot lie
And wait for you to dry my eyes

Counting the beat out, 1, 2, 3
Hand sifting sand, you wander free
4, catch my eye and notice me
Making it hard for me to breathe

(And I won’t sleep)

Dawn’s rosy fingers light the sky
No time to define you and I
Your song’s the echo to my sigh
Sometimes I can’t help wonder why

Clouds are colliding, it’s my fault
Monsters at left, at right, the rocks
If you love someone, let her be
How will I thrash back through this sea?

Drowning into the waves of strife
I see a saving figure rise
“Follow my lead, and you’ll survive”
Why do I live this haunted life?

Give up my pride to the island lore? Finally gain what I hoped for
Hey, it’s the Phaeacian shore
Now all I ask is one thing more

(Take me home through the storm)

Thirsting for where I started from
Ithaca dear, and here I come
Lock all my treasures in a cave
Land of oppressed, but I’m the brave

Glory and shine, away they flew
Battles with strangers I once knew
Priorities straight and I have my one
Odyssey and I’m never done (repeat)

La la la... (Instrumental)

Suitors, step aside
I’m the truth, you lied
Take off my disguise
I am real tonight

Let the music ring
Let the people sing
We are queen and king
Bells go ding, dong, ding

No fake deities
Let me sleep- oh please!
This is victory
It’s an odyssey

Left the past behind
To find gold inside (Home!)
This is victory
It’s an Odyssey

(Guitar strumming)

The Odyssey tells a story, but it's also a metaphor for human life. I hope you can find YOUR life in my take on it.
