Stay Up Again

I looked into the sun,
And when I looked away
I saw you looking at me
Like you weren’t afraid.
I knew who you are,
I’ve looked into those eyes,
And I’ve wondered before
If you’d ever be mine.
But that was yesterday,
When things were so hazy
And I’ve told myself then
I wouldn’t be so crazy.

But now you’re in my arms
And we’re laughing till nine,
Pot roast and stir fry,
Just filling up time.

You’ve got a big fat smile telling me
I should go to bed,
But I wanna laugh my heart out with you
Over again:
I know that I
I should, I
Just go to bed,
But you’re right here hugging me
So I’ll stay up again.

The first date was pizza,
But your jokes were deluxe
And we sipped out the lattes
With barbeque bucks.
Two months later and I’m convinced
This is too good to be true,
This was never written down,
This is just me and you.

Cause now you’re in my arms
And we’re laughing till ten
Your number and secrets
Are now my best friends.

You’ve got a big fat smile telling me
I should go to bed,
But I wanna laugh my heart out with you
Over again:
I know that I
I should, I
Just go to bed,
But you’re right here hugging me
So I’ll stay up again.

Cause now you’re in my arms
And we’re laughing to eleven,
Your green eyes and dimples
Are my two best friends.

You’ve got a big fat smile telling me
I should go to bed,
But I wanna laugh my heart out with you
Over again:
I know that I
I should, I
Just go to bed,
But you’re right here hugging me
So I’ll stay up again.

I should, I
I should, I
Just go to bed,
But you’re right here kissing me
And I’m staying up again.
