Favorite Quote:
Some folks are wise and some are otherwise. I guess we know which one you are.

Home smothers and chokes me;
Love drowns and provokes me.
Peace severs and pounds me;
Praise stalks up and cuts me.

Everything changes with every lie.

Live and you bawl;
Have faith and you fall.
Everything changes
With every sob.

Colors all avoid me;
Songs prod and annoy me.
Silence is a blessing
That is ever my curse.

Everything changes with every lie.

Live and you bawl;
Have faith and you fall.
Everything changes
With every sob.

False witness bears truth
When talking to me.
Can nobody hear—
Can nobody see
That my life is a life
No more alive than old history.

Everything changes with every fear.

Live and you bawl;
Have faith and you fall.
Everything changes
With every sob.

Leave home after dark;
Run away for the park.
Your tears have run out
Or you’re too strong to cry.

Everything changes with lie.

Everything changes,
And every change I die.

The author's comments:
This was written after I meet someone in the foster system. They said that every time they go to a new place to live, their mind knows hope is practically pointless, but something inside them can't help but hope anyway. She said with every new home, she died a little more, because it was never what that small part of her was looking for. To her, it felt like everything taunted her--books, emotions, people, movies--because it was everything she couldn't have. Happy endings didn't exist in her mind, but a lot of people said they did anyway, and that, she said, broke her more than anything else.
