Please just go
Leave this home
And when you go
Take away the pain and memories
Of me crying
By the door
Waiting for you to show up
Doubting myself
Saying it was my fault
That you left.
I know you’re my dad
Biologically
But you’ve broke my heart
So please just go
Leave this home
And when you go
Take away the pan and memories
Of me crying
And you breaking your promises
Coming into my life for days,
Calling every night,
Then changing numbers,
And not talking to me in years
Then showing up
And wanting to get to know me
But I can’t take it no more
So please just go
Leave this home
And when you go
Take away the pain and memories
Of me crying
By the door
Waiting for you to show up
And doubting myself
Saying it was my fault
That you left.
So please just go
Leave this home,
But when you go
I want you to know that
I love you
I always have
And I always will
But I can’t deal with the pain
No more.

This poem is helping let my dad go. Luvmefrome, it's a hard struggle. But this song is me letting him go. If he ever comes back, I'll just sing this song.

Thank you. My dad was a mean drunk. He still is. He would come to see me and my brother for a couple of days then drop out of my life for months or years, and it hurt. I didn't understand why he wasn't there, but now i know. The reason I wrote this song (and I have revised it) is so I can sing it to my dad if he ever shows back up.  I understand the pain.
