Airplane Skies

You were drenched
the night I said goodbye
So was my heart
but you couldn't see it with your eyes
In your arms one last time,
I knew my heart was no longer mine
No longer mine

So there you go, taking my heart
on an airplane so far
across the wide skies
that you made bright for me
And you'll hold it there forever
Even if you don't know it ever
You're the blue skies I never had

And now regret
fills every bone I have
With you gone,
I'll never have another chance
Why didn't I love you sooner?
That's the one thing I wonder
You make me wonder

And you love the west coast
but that makes me feel alone
because our shores are so far
And I wish they could collide together
I always knew goodbye would come
But I didn't know I'd be in love

And now it's all I can say,
There's nothing I can do
I love you...
