Rainy Day

I shut my window to try to keep out the breeze,
But it’s still drafty anyway.
The boy I love, he acts like I’m not there,
And I woke up with a cold today.
My old best friend, she’s never around anymore,
And I wish I had tried to save her.
I sit in the kitchen; alone ‘cause no one’s home,
And my cup of tea has no flavor.
But wouldn’t you know?
I don’t mind.

Outside it’s a rainy day,
But I’m happy anyway.
Seems like things keep going wrong,
But instead of crying I’m writing a song
Because I know I can make it through
Any rainy day
With a smile on my face
And I know I’ll be okay.

I jump out of the shower; put on my favorite jeans.
I think today’s a combat boot kind of day.
Dressed in black and grey, but my mood is pink and yellow.
I’m gonna find the sun, come what may.

Outside it’s a rainy day,
But I’m happy anyway.
Seems like things keep going wrong,
But instead of crying I’m writing a song
Because I know I can make it through
Any rainy day
With a smile on my face
And I know I’ll be okay.

Things don’t always go the way you want.
You must accept that.
But happiness, that depends on you,
So don’t forget that.

Outside it’s a rainy day,
But I’m happy anyway.
Seems like things keep going wrong,
But instead of crying I’m writing a song
Because I know I can make it through
Any rainy day
With a smile on my face
And I know I’ll be okay.
