Crashing through the waves
Tumbling onto shore
Latching onto schools of fish
Just to fall upon the ocean floor
The edges have dulled
Scratched by sand
Sat in child’s hand
Thrown at the sky
Just a piece of broken glass
If it weren’t already broken
It would be now
If it hadn’t already fallen
It would be flat
On the ground
It’s been held onto and discarded
It’s been ignored
And it’s been through its own war
