Orphan Child

Lone little orphan child
Simple, quiet, meek, and mild
Ill-treated for mistaken reasons
Ill-fated through countless seasons

Train wheels moving beneath her feet
Count the sounds of the steady beat
Pray that she’ll find something more
Thoughts resound inside her core

Foreign people with expectations
Aim to revise her imperfections
Consistent actions from all around
Individuals are never found

Motives for a better life
Sick of all the excessive strife
Love is underneath and yearning
Hope is inside, intense and burning

An emancipated human being
Independent and forever fleeing
No net to tangle up her mind
Paths are entirely hers to find

Broken truths and simple lies
Everything falls to demise
Full of sorrow and regret
Learn to forgive and forget

And comes a voice she soon hears
Resonating to erase her fears
Follow the echo through the field
Find the eyes that have a shield

It matters not what’s in the past
Love can conquer all and last
A place to belong and a place to stay
Here, the sun will appear everyday
