Just a Glass

I am just a glass
I am a fragile vase
A vessel for water
And flowers on my face

I don’t have a thought
Outwardly, anyway
I sit here and I mull
As the world swirls, day by day

I am just a glass
I have no control
My stems can’t reach far
I do as I am told

And the pressure in the room
Is rising exponentially
And I can’t seem to breathe
Stems strangled horizontally

The vessel gives a crack
Water is pouring out of me
This is only just the breaking point
Shattering diagonally

And it’s all gone with a rag
No traces of evidence
Could the cat have knocked the vase over?
What a strange coincidence.

It’s cold in the empty room
That I used to reside in
And all that’s left in legacy
Is the small hardwood bloodstain.
