At seventeen this towns seems much to small
The kind of place where you know everybody
When you see me do you feel anything at all
Are you as anxious as me to leave

I feel like maybe I didn’t understand
What you meant when you said we’re forever
I thought you meant the literal sense of the word
Not just one more day, but that’s all you gave

Is it true that you’re getting married in the fall
Is it true that I never meant anything at all
You’re nineteen, do you even know what love means
I was just wondering

It’s been a year since your car has been on my drive
And ten months since I’ve looked into your eyes
Did you throw away the drawing of me and you
Did you burn that picture when we were through
Today I was cleaning out my dresser drawers
And I found things that used to be yours
Admittedly I found the necklace you gave
Me for my sweet sixteenth birthday

Is it true that you’re getting married in the fall
Is it true that I never meant anything at all
You’re nineteen, do you even know what love means
I was just wondering

It’s like a fist is clamped on my heart
But maybe it’s not my place to start

This crazy list of memories of the way we used to be

Is it true that you’re getting married in the fall
Is it true that I never meant anything at all
You’re nineteen, do you even know what love means
I was just wondering
