Loving the Devil

You gave into his
Ghostly fingers of death
You traded me
For your role of debt
You dreaded me
As much as I dreaded leaving
I hated loving you
Like it was a season

Loving your demon
Is loving the devil

Through the fire
And all through your treason
You buried me
Like there was nothing to it
I was a burden
You were willing to seize
And suddenly it’s just you
And his trident

You sealed the deal
With your dirty shovel
You grabbed hold of
Something with no soul
You took my loving
And stabbed it with your truth
And all that’s left
Is the mind of a fool

Loving your demon
Is loving the devil
You love my tears
Like you breathe my fears
Loving your demon
Is loving the devil
You’ve got his trident
But it’s your own shovel
