there's a man on the street who used to be someone
there's a woman alone, crying her heart out
a boy with love who cannot speak
a girl in a room, she locked her heart away
a father who wished he could have changed
a mother who drinks to forget the pain
a dreamer with a dream just out of reach
and fears he can't overcome

another person lies
another child dies
can't we swallow our pride?
the world keeps turning
tears will be cried;
tears fall from the sky
another day goes by
and the world keeps turning
the world keeps turning around

there's an old man crying, he's so sick
an old woman sits to reminisce
a little boy is pushed down to the ground
a little girl who's too young to understand her loss
a boyfriend who thinks he messed it all up
a girlfriend who says that it's all her fault
a hopeless romantic with so much love,
but she has no one to share it with

another person lies
another child dies
can't we swallow our pride?
the world keeps turning
tears will be cried;
tears fall from the sky
another day goes by
and the world keeps turning
the world keeps turning around

nights pass by slowly, but they'll come and go
we'll travel down roads we may not know
learn to take a chance or
risk burning down in all your regrets
