I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends, they're in my head

To stand out in a world full of odd ones out,
That’s my life now don’t help me out.
I’m fine on my own don’t pretend you’re my friend
‘Cause the world’s out to get all of us in the end.

Your goal’s out of reach, no one follows you there.
You’re your own devotee, now you’re just splitting hairs,
And the words of the prophet say “Do what I say,”
But the people have no faith at all anyway.

And they talk on and on.
No one hears what they say.
It was nothing important, they said all along,
We’ll just keep on going our separate ways.

I wake up, thrown into a world of noise,
Full of all the wrong people, at all costs to avoid.
They give you a pen and they teach you to right,
Then get mad at you when you stand up for your right.

The king with his crown made of dirt
Wears a suit that’s drawn into his shirt.
And the servants who work hard to keep him well-fed
Have nothing to say ‘til it’s off with their head.

And we talk on and on.
No one hears what we say.
It was nothing important, they said all along,
We’ll just keep on going our separate ways.

I wrote this song during one of those bursts of creativity you get when you're supposed to be studying. It sounds kind of like an Arctic Monkeys song to me, for anyone else who's a fan.
