I knew you were the one,
Though I kept it to myself,
You didn’t know who I was,
And you were in love with someone else.

Then school was out, summer was in,
Your girlfriend left, now our time could begin,
Yet, I knew it was a stretch,
That you’d fall for less than the best.

That summer I fell in love,
Somehow you fell for me too,
It was strange, definitely something new.

To both me and you.

I remember the way you looked you looked that night.
The way it felt when you held me tight,
How it seemed like everything would be all right,
When you gave me the dance of my life.

The summer went on and so did we,
Never thought I could be this happy,
Days at the lake,
Had never been this way, (Hey)

The sparkle in your eyes,
Held my gaze upon you,
Never seen anything quite like you,
In my life…

I remember the way you looked you looked that night.
The way it felt when you held me tight,
How it seemed like everything would be all right,
When you gave me the dance of my life.

Soon the nights got cold, and so did we,
I wasn’t happy, and you weren’t in love with me,
I was scared to leave, to be on my own,
I didn’t know what was in store for me.

But I took a chance, I left chin up,
I won’t let this ruin me,
I have so much left,
And no one, not even you,
Can change me.

Though it’s been months
And seems like years,
I’m happy now,
But I still remember.

The way you looked that night.
How you held me tight.
I thought everything would be alright.
I guess I was wrong.
But I’ve, moved on.
