Verse One:
Wash over me,
Take it all away.
I'm holding back my tears
And trying to smile for today.
I'm letting go of my lonely,
And releasing my pain,
Forgetting my sorrows.
I can't be afraid,

To step out into Light
And to hold out my hands.
You gave Your life for me
So I'd have a place to stand.

Chorus:
Wash over me,
And make me clean.
Set me free.
Let me be
Who I am,
Not who I've been.
I want You to be
The Savior for me.

Verse Two:
Watch over me.
Make my path clear.
Open my eyes,
And tie back my fears.
Please walk this life with me,
And take my hand.
You gave up everything
So I could start again

Chorus:
Wash over me.
Make me clean.
Set me free.
Let me be
Who I am,
Not who I've been.
I want you to be
The Savior for me

Bridge:
When life gets to hard,
And I have no where to turn,
I'll lift my eyes to the sky
And give You my heart once more!

Chorus:
Wash over me,
Make me clean.
Set me free,
And let me be
Who I am,
Not who I've been.
I want you to be
The Savior for me.

The author's comments:
I wrote this song on a really rainy afternoon (hence the title). We had been in a terrible drought and all of the little old church ladies were praising God for the downpour. As I was looking out the window of my father's living room, the words Wash Over Me popped into my mind. I immediately ran upstairs, grabbed my guitar, and six hours later I came up with this.
