And so I see all these people
Who tell me with their eyes
I’m not the one they fantasize about
Not the one that they see in the movies
I got no groove
I am not smooth
But I won’t live in your jealous dreams
This is me

Taking off the itchy makeup
Keeping on
All the clothes I can get
What I do I do for me
Not for your slut heels
Think they make you taller?
This is me
Towering over all your jealous dreams
This is my dream

And so I hear all your people
Who come to listen to me
I am the one they come to see
Because I’m real
Because I’m me

But while I’m up here in the clouds
I can’t help but taste the cotton candy
Not too long ago
The sweet is sweet
But not for long
And so I wrote another song
About how this ends

Now I sing to all the people
Who come to listen to me
I’m not the one they came to see
For you see
They came to see their reflection in the mirror

I put down my microphone
Head back to the car, alone
Wish I could drive
But I’m only fifteen

I want to touch people’s lives
And one day I strive to be more than a mirror

And so I see all these people
Who tell me with their eyes
I’m not the one they fantasize about
Not the one that they see in the movies
But I got my own groove
And even if I’m not smooth
I won’t live in your jealous dreams
I’ll just be me

The author's comments:
I just watched an inspirational Disney movie, caught up on Facebook, was about to move in online Scrabble.. And then these lyrics popped into my head. Maybe they're decent, I dunno! We'll see in the morning, but right now I feel like taking a chance and posting this, before I got my analysis-oriented brain all over it.
