I crawl into another skin
escape the world's dismay
while darkness beckons, I begin
the path's been bent astray

stare in deranged smiles
while writing books on isolation
skeptics of the worthy mile
live silent desperation

wind-up hearts and broken dreams
steal the world or so it seems
plastic eyes and mangled hands
write no message in the sands

see-through souls and torn-off masks
chaos stains the distant past
ruthless hands and fits of rage
burn the dolls upon a page

their secret chants now fill the air
whispered 'till the end of days
as wisdom melted in the flare
and dreams became a chilling haze

wind-up hearts and broken dreams
steal the world or so it seems
plastic eyes and mangled hands
write no message in the sands

see-through souls and torn-off masks
chaos stains the distant past
ruthless hands and fits of rage
burn the dolls upon a page
