not like this.

rain pours down in sheets so i dont go outside
but even in here i've got no where to hide
from the clouds that form shadows right over my heart
they grab at my veins and tear me apart
i try to run west, i try to run east
but still i am followed by a terrible beast
trying to pull me back down
away from the good i have found
and they say hate is a shakle, love's an elaborate lie
and you can make anything mean anything with a clever enough disguise
i have been fooled, and i have been cheated
and all of my wrongs just get repeated
but on the brightside, at least i've learned how to smile
and your voice on the phone keeps me calm for a while
you're telling me things are gonna be alright
cause' at least now i beat my lows without getting high
so here i stand surrounded by dust
i beat the walls down and i came out tough
and i will keep shining,
shining on...

i cant stand this town, 'cause all i see is your face
there's memories of you all over the place
when we stood there screaming, or the night that she died
the loves i have lost, all the tears we have cried
you wanna say what you mean, and know how you feel
well, i'll be your band-aid and teach you to heal
there's a song in my head i don't know how to write
and a face in my dreams i don't recognize
the words aren't there...
they floated into the air...
but on the brightside, at least i've learned how to smile
and your voice on the phone keeps me calm for a while
you're telling me things are gonna be alright
cause' at least now i beat my lows without getting high
so here i stand surrounded by dust
i beat my walls down but i came out tough
and i will keep shining,
shining on...

cause' i aint gonna live like this
i aint gonna die like that
no, i aint gonna give in
no, no, no
i aint gonna live like this
i aint gonna die like that
no, i aint gonna give in
no, no, no
