Things in this life

They go passing by

To quickly we run

To quickly we try to fly

But I see others

The paths they take

The avarice and pride

Shadowing every mistake

And I know

I'm not ready for you

No, no, no

I'm just not ready for you

Not ready to settle down

No, not ready for you

Not ready for the feelings in which I drown

Nor what they say about you

I'm not ready for this

Ball and chain

No not ready for you

Not ready for the hurt and pain

That I fear I'm destined to provide for you

When I think about our time

Sickly sweet like the nursery rhymes

I imagine your face

And your lips taste

And what it would do to you

To hear me speak these words

And mean every one of them true

And the apathy that ensues

Shows I'm just not ready for you

No , no, no

How could I be ready for you?

I'm not ready for the life our parents had

No, I'm not ready for you

Not ready for the ill fruits from the garden we grew

Not ready for what it says about me and you

I'm not ready to give up this meal

Before Ive had my fill

I'm not ready for you

Not ready to give all I have

Not ready to trust it all to you

Now don’t go saying I don’t care

I gave you my heart and you never shared

Don’t tell me I don’t care

I gave you my hopes and fears

And you replied with your cold blank stare

Yet you dare say I never cared

Maybe one day Ill show my love

And leave it ever bare

And you'll be the one to say

I'm just not ready for you

This entire piece came to me in a an hour, and just flowed from my hands as I wrote it down. I was inspired about it after I was rejected my a girl, though this isn't directly about her.
