Crystal Heart

You told her she was beautiful.
You told her every day.
But she never believed you.
She wished that she could.
She wanted to believe it,
but everything pulled her from the truth.

The mirror chose what it wanted her to see,
but the things it showed she wished she could hide.

Her golden face hides a million flaws,
Those sapphire eyes hid a world of doubt,
Her smile of pearls had become a mask,
And you should know,
The words of the wicked just might have
Shattered her crystal heart.

He told her he loved her,
He told her every day,
She thought she believed him.
He called it crime of passion,
But she only called it pain,
And every bruise pushed her closer to the end.

If black and blue were the colors of love,
He left his whole heart on her arm.

Her golden face hid a million flaws,
Those sapphire eyes hid a world of doubt,
Her smile of pearls had become a mask,
And you should know,
The scars that he left just might have
Shatter her crystal heart.

In her world, perfect was non-existent,
To herself, everything was wrong,
She wanted to turn it all around,
And then you came along……….

Your golden face, it could have no flaws,
Your smile of pearls, it told her from the start that
Your sapphire eyes saw right through her mask,
And because of you,
One day at a time,
She is mending her crystal heart.
