Lie to Me

And every time I cry
I wish you’d lie to me

Say that we’ll last forever
Say that everything’s okay
That you’ll never let me slip away

The truth just might be too much
For my fragile heart
It might shatter, not that it would matter
Cause the truth is you don’t care

But I don’t want to know the truth. do I?
I’d rather just pretend

So next time I cry
Please just lie to me

I know it won’t be true
But sometimes all I need is you
And loosing that would be another tear I cry
So please just lie

Say that we’ll last forever
Say that everything’s okay
That you’ll never let me slip away

When I suspect reality
And break down and cry
I hope you know why
Know you should lie

I don’t want to know the truth (2x) do i?
I’d rather just pretend (I don’t want to know the truth) I’d rather we just pretend

When I suspect reality
Then break down and sob
Please don’t turn the knob and walk away
Don’t leave me here alone
Just lie to me

But as much as I need those lies
They won’t solve anything
There’ll be no goodbye
So maybe it’s time to face the truth

We grew apart
You moved on
I sat and cried
Cause the truth is hard
And I wished so badly
You’d come along
and comfort me
Wish’d you’d lied to me

Said that we’d last forever
Said that everything was okay
That you’d never let me slip away

I don’t want to know the truth (2x) do I?
I’d rather just pretend (I don’t want to know the truth) I’d rather just pretend
So please lie to me, lie-ie to me, please lie to me, me
Please lie

Cause every time I cry
I wish you’d lie
About all the things crashing down around me
Say that everything’s okay
(but baby) what good is that?
To say it’s all right, when it’s all wrong?
Time I face the truth; I’ll know it’s true
Now it’s goodbye
Please, no more lies

You’re still here – one more moment
Sadly I still – wish you’d sigh
Say it’s all a joke – and you love me
That you’re still my bloke

I’ve given up on lies
Now all that’s left is goodbyes

You’re still here – One more moment
One last touch – I’ll always savor
I wanted to save us – to be our savior
But this moment’s proof – we weren’t meant to be
I look in your eyes – they were once mine
And I know you’re free – we both are free

We are free.
No more pleading for lies.
The time is come to get up off the ground, brush off my knees. It’s alright.
Don’t bleed. Just believe.

Oh. Oh. Oh. Please don’t lie. I can’t take that anymore
I can’t hide from the world forever
Please don’t lie to me
Please. Oh please. Even if ask you to. Don’t lie to me.
Lie to me. Lie-ie to me. Lie. Lie. Lie. T-to me. Lie to me.
When I start to cry.
Oh baby. Please don’t lie.
Because honesty’s a great policy.
Now I’m looking for a guy who can honestly…

Say that we’ll last forever
Say that everything’s okay
That he’ll never let me slip away

Words on this poem are beyond powerful! Using simple words and little rhymes created an amazing illusion in my head! Beyond wonderful!
I love the title, it's different but it's true, sometimes we ask for lies but I rather know the truth becuase being lied to hurts . . so deep!

Check out my work, you're one of the poets I would be proud to have comments from :) Great job!

thank you so much! that means alot! i will definetly check out your work :) I would love it if you looked at some more of my writing. this peice is song lyrics, i have one other work posted online for song lyrics if you like that called "Don't Lie and Say It Doesn't Matter". I know it sounds similair but is actually very different. i would really love it if you looked at my free-verse poems "When August Set" and "Still".

I could totally hear music playing in the background as I was reading your song. Such a good piece, you should try to record it and upload it to YouTube or something because to me, this sounds like a hit :)
