Drivin’ down the road
Thinkin’ ‘bout life
And what I’m gonna do
I take a turn to the left
Instead of the right
And now I’m here with you
Talkin’ outside
Lyin’ on our backs
Lookin’ up at the clouds
You say somethin’ funny
And I start to laugh
Then we’re singin’ out loud

To the song
On the radio
That describes us perfectly
About a couple of kids
Fallin’ in love
At the tender age of 16
Like them
We got our whole lives ahead
Not gonna take it slow
So here we sit
Singin’ out loud
To the song on the radio.

A few years gone by
But still thinking ‘bout life
Where we are gonna go
To start our own lives
As husband and wife
And learn what we gotta know
As we sit outside
Watchin’ clouds roll by
Hearin’ neighborhood kids shout
We look at each other
Laugh to ourselves
And start singing out loud

To the song
On the radio
That describes us perfectly
About some newlyweds
Startin’ out life
Becoming who they can be
Like them
We bought a home
Now we’re watchin’ life as it goes
And here we sit singin’
To the song on the radio.

Our lives have flown by
But sittin’ here outside
Everything seems alright
Grandkids runnin’ ‘round screamin’
We’re not high tech no cell phones ringin’
Together we sit
Rockin’ side by side
And then we start bustin’ out singin’

To the song
On the radio
That describes us perfectly
About two grown adults
Who’ve lived a full life
Celebrating their golden anniversary
Over 50 years together and we still feel young
And never gonna take life slow
As we sit out here singin’
To the song on the radio.

A couple of summers ago the beginning of this song popped into my head... so I quickly wrote it down and finished it a few days later.
