People see my smile and think:
“What a beautiful “nice” young woman”
But my smile is just my shroud
Inside my heart I’m dying slow
Tired of keeping up score
Do they know that when I’m all alone
The shameful, sin filled thoughts are known?
Chorus
I put on a face outside
Hoping they can’t see through me
See that that everything I am is really just a lie I’ve told
I wanna keep the world at bay
To keep up what I portray
My purity façade
They think I never take a drink
But God knows that isn’t true
I took a drink the night before
It almost cost my fortune
For if he knew the things I’d done
He probably wouldn’t have said ‘I do’
