I'm in a whole new place that I'm not familiar with
And I sure do hope I fit in
But here everybody knows everbody but me.
I'm doing my best not to seem so foreign.
I'm moving forward not knowing where I'm going
But I hope and I pray that I don't get lost

Because things are constantly changing
And the stars they shine so brightly
Down here, in Mississippi
oh oh oh oh
Down here in M I double S I double S I double P I
yeah

Making new friends is a whole other story
I've made a few, but I still worry
Because here everybody knows everybody but me.
I'm doing my best to mock the southern kindness
I'm afraid I can do nothing less than
Have a little faith that soon I'll find my way
Because things are constantly changing
And the stars they shine so brightly
Down here, in Mississippi
oh oh oh oh
Down here in M I double S I double S I double P I
yeah
yeahhh

Down here in M I S S I S S I P P I
oh oh oh

The author's comments:
I grew up as a yankee, and recently moved here to Mississippi. I was a bit worried at first, but I eventually fit in. I found this in a notebook that I had written in when I first got here. So I hope you enjoy it...
