she'll never know what she's got
and she'll stand there
draped over your arm
you look at her the way I wish you'd look at me
you don't see the way I stop and stare
whenever you walk past
and she'll never know you the way I do

'cuz you're the one I run to
when I really need you
and every time I do
you take me from this place
with that smile on your face
but why don't you see
she'll never love you like me
don't you know
what you do to me

you tell me you're taking her out again tonight
the way you talk about her makes me feel less than alright
and I can't help but hate her
even though she makes you so damn happy
but I'll still cry
and you'll never know why

'cuz you're the one I run to
when I really need you
and every time I do
you take me from this place
with that smile on your face
but why don't you see
she'll never love you like me
don't you know
what you do to me

and now I'm all alone
up 'til 2 am
tears streaking down my face
hoping that you'll finally realize

that you're the one I run to
when I really need you
and every single time I do
you take me from this place
with that smile on your face
but I just wanna open your eyes
and make you see
she'll never, ever love you like me
and then you'll see
what you do to me

The author's comments:
Once again, I think this song is self-explanatory. I liked a guy who was dating my best friend. The guy and I were close friends, too. It was awkward for me, because the guy would always talk to me about her, and I wished he would talk about me the way he talked about her. I guess the message is: It's hard to have the one you want dangled in front of you, and not be able to reach out and take them.
