Verse:
I remember that night; I was so cold and scared.
You and mom got in a fight, and you didn’t care.
Dad you were so drunk, you couldn’t stand.
Dad do you know, the pain caused us? It hurts so much.
Dad do you know how much I love you? Why did you go?
But then, I remember. . .

Chorus:
The fist to my face, I couldn’t erase.
The bruises I had, and the scars you caused me.
The stitches sew up, my broken skin.
But they can’t sew up my heart within.
I am sorry daddy, I hope you find what you’re looking for.
I am sorry daddy, for your heart that’s sore.

Verse:
For many years, I used to be beat. Too scared to tell anyone.
The anger in his eyes burned, so I took this pain alone.
He was always drunk, he couldn’t stand.
What can I say, I was physically abused.
What can I say, I felt loved but used.

Bridge:
Dad I will never forget you, despite the pain you caused.
Still I cannot forget, how I paid the cost,
for something that wasn’t my fault.
Only yours, cause of the alcohol.
Only yours, cause of the alcohol. . . .
It’s your fault.
Yet I paid the cost.

Chorus:
By a fist to the face, I couldn’t erase.
The bruises I had, and the scars you caused me.
The stitches that sewed up, my broken skin.
The never could sew up my heart within.
I am sorry daddy, I hope your find what you’re looking for.
I am sorry daddy, for your heart that’s so, so sore.
For your heart that’s sore.
