Still Hurting

By , Hutchinson, KS
You said goodbye, I was still saying hello
In your mind you were ready to go
You didn’t think about the pain
That you’d caused me
You saw an open door
You took the chance to leave

And it hurts the worst at night
Because I lie awake remembering
All the good times that we shared
When everything was going perfectly
I thought it would last forever
I never thought I would end up in this place
Never

Everyday when I wake up
I hope and pray that it isn’t real
When I see you walking around
So normally
Like a slap in the face
That’s how it feels to me

And it hurts the worst at night
Because I lie awake remembering
All the good times that we shared
When everything was going perfectly
I thought it would last forever
I never thought I would end up in this place
Never

As I start the healing process
To forgive, forget and walk away
I thought that it was getting easier until today
As a tear rolls down my face
I never wanted you to go

And it hurts the worst at night
Because I lie awake remembering
All the good times that we shared
When everything was going perfectly
I thought it would last forever
I never thought I would end up in this place

I never thought that you would turn your face
You had promised not to hurt me again
How was I to know that this would be
How it would end
