Am I shadow?
Are you a pawn?
Within the confines of a dream we coexist.
My mind a martyr lost,
Between desire and what's real,
The night thickens as I return to this wicked world.

I hear the voice,
That screams illusion,
It fades behind closed eyes.
The restless heart,
It begs for solace,
For the Impossible.

The shallow waters of the mind,
Create the images refined,
Day and night become entwined,
The dream gives into black.

Embodied in a nightmare,
Running parallel,
To a place that's always there but never seems familiar.
A broken melody's reprise,
Softly pulls the trigger,
The night thickens as I return to this wicked world.
