Save Your Soul

Living with hollow faces
Sinking to darker places
Lust now no longer love
Hate a powerful word for us
God take this world and answer its calls
Simple-minded souls are wicked dolls

I thought I had it figured out
Figured that tears were just rainfall
It takes pain to make us see
To make us beg endlessly
Why where you the one to fall
The one to make this feel so wrong
Save your soul, save our love
We can’t live in angry lust

Shadows hidden in the gray
I’m not blinded by my fate
But don’t live with eyes so shut
Take my hand and we can run
To find an answer for their souls
To find a moment, open doors

I thought I had it figured out
Figured that tears were just rainfall
It takes pain to make us see
To make us beg endlessly
Why where you the one to fall
The one to make this feel so wrong
Save your soul, save our love
We can’t live in angry lust

Jealousy falls from their tears
But rainfall isn’t so near
Now their souls are on display
Burning fire, soon they’ll fade

Now I know tears are torn
And the skies don’t drop
What jealousy’s worn
It took pain to make me see
To make me scream endlessly
Why where you the one to fall
The one to make this feel so wrong
Save your soul, save our love
We can’t live in angry lust

The author's comments:
I wrote this based on a very frightening and personal experiences. At that period in time I had only small grains of hope left for humanity. I wrote the first verse and chorus and could not continue on any longer. I returned to the song a while later and was able to regain my momentum and respectively regain that hope.
