I Closed That Door

Flaming eyes are scanning
Right through all your lies
Blinded my dear
I wasted my breath on endless cries

And I fought through the fire babe
Watching as the gray ashes fade
Now I’m guessing you’ll run away
Cus you’re too damn afraid

I can’t stand your lies, anymore
You’ve become so ice cold
Can’t seem to take the truth
So you try and ignore

That our every single smile and kiss
Had you wishing for more
But I wont ignore

I’m not choosing that door
No, no, no, no

Loving me like you did
It never really came to play
Should’ve seen you coming
When I looked out at the nightshade

And I knew you had your demons
But I never really thought you’d turn away
And I really though us forever
Was more that just a borrowed phrase

But I can’t stand your lies, anymore
You’ve become so ice cold
Can’t seem to take the truth
So you try and ignore

That our every single smile and kiss
Had you wishing for more
But I wont ignore

I’m not choosing that door
No, no, no, no
I’m not choosing that door
No, no, no, no

Had us making plans our love was gonna take us through the rain
Oh
But that insecure boy has never had his heart out on display

So he chose to fly, and ignore
And become so ice cold
He was her hearts cure
Until they both hit the floor

And she would see that he’s numbing
But she still didn’t go running
Like he did before..

She chose his door
Oh no no
I chose your door
oh, oh, oh.....
Screaming
No, no, oh, no, no,
No..

The author's comments:
This song is very personal to me. I wrote it a few days after my first serious relationship ended. At that point in time I still had undeniable feelings for, lets call him "Prince Charming", the creation of this song allowed me to express a lot of the confusion surrounding our relationship and the subsequent breakup. As I reread this poem recently (almost a year after the breakup) I found the original tittle ("That Door") to be unsuitable. "I Closed That Door" is much more fitting, because now largely due to writing this song I am able to move on and close his door and embrace the ones that are opening. I hope readers will enjoy this song but most off all I hope that they can relate and realize that there is hope and renewal in life and love just as it seems that everything you believed in has fallen apart. Trust me, I am living proof of that.

"We all can't be heroes. Somebody has to sit on the sides and clap as they go by." "In the end, they're just more words."

i can totally relate to this, and it was written very well, with all the idea that every person is like a door to open and explore. keep writing songs because you are really talented at it!
