Once Upon a Teardrop

More by this author
We had our jokes, our laughs, our fights
My dead tired days, my sleepless nights
I'd lie away, with thoughts of you
Hoping that you thought of me too

We were there for each other, for times good and bad
The best of friends, through and through
Everyone could see we belonged together
Everyone, that is, but you

When I was down and out and broken
Your smile was my remedy
But now the "us" I used to know
Only exists in memories

Once upon a teardrop, you used to love me
Once upon a sad song, you used care
How am I supposed to act like I still know you
When it feels like there's no one there?

I talk to you, you look right through me
I wonder what that's all about
I try to smile, but it gets harder
As my heart fills up with doubt

I don't know why you've changed
I know I can't go on like this
Tell me, where did I go wrong?
Was there something that I missed?

Once upon a teardrop, you used to love me
Once upon a sad song, you used to care
How am I supposed to act like I still know you
When it feels like there's know one there?

If teardrops could buy me back your love
I'd pay up a thousand times
If they sold tickets to your heart
I'd wait for days in that line

Once upon a teardrop, you used to love me
Once upon a rainstorm, you used to care
"Happily Ever After" 's only for the stories
That's the way it is, boy, life ain't fair

Once upon a teardrop, you used to love me
Once upon a sad song, you used to care
How am I supposed to act like I still know you
When it feels like there's no one there?

Once upon a teardrop...
