Pain (in my opinion)

By , Columbia City, IN
Pain
Is not a punch in the stomach
Or a slap in the face
A kick in the throat
Or being tazed or getting maced

Pain is
(In my opinion)
Being surrounded by death and by sorrow.
Dreading today, not sure of tomorrow.
Having parents that hate you, don’t know or don’t care, and can’t do a thing,
Facing the blows and the words brutal sting.
Being helpless when help’s needed most,
Awaiting the day you become compost,

In a 6 foot hole,
And wandering is your tortured soul.
But you can’t do a thing and nothing can calm,
The burning pain on your sliced up arm.
Being angry and sad and insane and upset,
Standing out in the rain ‘cause it hides the wet,
Tears streaming your sullen expression.
For me it’s the cause of several depressions.
