autumn’s night draws nigh
crickets still transparent wings
whip-poor-wills name cry

earth’s breath gently slows
pine beckons with needle tips
rustles soft and low

touch his calloused skin
our heartbeats meld into one
fresh wounds forgotten

ancient stars observe me
bright twinkling eyes recollect
evening reverie

While I was reading this. It sounds like a poem they put in literature books. I like it.
