I don’t want Prince Charming This work has been published in the Teen Ink monthly print magazine.

I wish for true love
something real, that I can feel
like in a fairy tale

Alas, I'm no princess
I can slay my own dragon
I can save myself

Hey there, Prince Charming,
can you love a warrior,
a strong girl like me?

I carry a sword
not a bouquet of flowers
I don't wear a crown

Could you ever like me?
Combat boots and all?
Tell me now, Charming.

Don't waste my time
Prince Charming, I'm busy
so do you like me?

Don't try to save me
I don't need that, I need you
for you to be you

I'm climbing down
I hate heights anyways,
Tired of waiting

Now is your chance
do you want to ride off
into the sunset?

your time is up now
go find yourself a princess
I want Robin Hood

I really like this. It's quite witty and you've taken the stereotypical fairytale story and turned it on its head. I like that. Well done.

So funny and tells girls that being a "girly girl" is not the only kind of girl to be.

I like it, but a haiku is suppose to be about nature.

Haikus are usually inspired by nature, but any thought can be expressed through a haiku.

I did not recognise this as a haiku at first. Perhaps because the third line often has sod syllables instead of five. . . Oh well. :)
