An Open Letter to Art
Dear Art,
You’ve always been there.
From the first time
I picked up a crayon
To now,
Holding my expensive pens
And $20 watercolors.
Improvement
Was the biggest challenge.
Eyes, noses, hands, feet.
All equally difficult in their own way.
But still, I improved.
I drew more and more.
Art styles came and went
Just as preferred mediums.
Crayons, markers, pencils, acrylic, watercolor.
You may have changed as I grew up,
But you’ve always really been the same.

This piece was inspired by Kobe Bryant's "Open Letter to Basketball," and was a project written in class. Art is a big part of my life and always has been.
