The Tape is Rewound
The tape is on the desk, ready to be rewound
Play it.
Everything flashes before your very mind.
Incandescent souvenirs and pieces of broken memories
The images leap and burst back into life
Mixed up, comforting confusion
Fishes fly in liquid air
Lava explodes from holes in the grass
Slow-motion. Fast-forward. Alternative realities unfolding.
Those eyes. You've seen them. They're burning your brain.
The gravitational force is irresistible.
All in black and white
You need to paint the colors back in
Wait. You've jumped to another place.
Scattered dream-like sequences.
Music is playing
You feel the notes as if they're yours
They are not
They belong to the tape
The monitor is off
A tear.
Worlds in fusion
You put the tape back where it belongs.

I was loosely inspired by Radiohead's song, Videotape. I had the idea of someone finding a tape showing scattered sequences, as if a chaotic series of dreams was being shown on a tape.
