splintering

The branch most
bent bears
the most fruit
That is what people will tell me.
But I do not bear fruit.
My branches are
splintering.
the peach pits are stones.
Someday I will snap.
tumbling
down
to the unforgiving earth
grief, depression, terror
mine and borrowed-
I cannot hold it all.
