Day by Day
She smiles through her tears
Laughs through her lies
whenever she says, “yes, I am fine.”
She walks past a mirror and looks down at the floor,
her image disgusts her and she won’t look at herself anymore.
She can not look at anyone in the eye
she knows this because every day she tries.
She tries to power through her pain each and every day
and to never give up and take life day by day.
One day she finds herself smiling with no tears
not laughing through lies.
She walks past a mirror and looks at herself straight in the eye.
She doesn’t feel pain each and every day
because she never gave up on herself and took life day by day.
