Enough: the cry of a great generation

April 13, 2018

Our eyes look up
There is only sky
No one to guide us in our grief
Our hands reach out
There is only emptiness
No one to hold us in our hurt

We cover our heads
Pray to god
That we aren’t next
That we won’t be
Another name
Another number
Another life lost
To the blast of a bullet

We grew up always looking
Aware and never trusting
“See something say something”
The world is a mess
But we have never known a different one
The time when children could wander alone
has passed
Because children
have passed

We are cleaning up your mess
because no one else will

Our eyes looked up
There was only sky
So we looked around
And we found each other
Our hands reached out
There was only emptiness
So we stood up
And we found each other

We uncovered our heads
And said
That we will rise
That we won’t be
Another name
Another number

But

Another movement

Catalyzed

By the blast of a bullet
