I miss the summer days
When the days were warm
The wind was soft
The grass was soft

I miss the days when school was fun
And I lost sleep, too excited to sleep
Because of a field trip under the blue sky
And red sun

I miss the days where I could read
Because I wanted to
Not have the words forced down my throat
To the point, I would fail just to stop

I miss the days when grades did not define me
I did not lose sleep over a paper due
And I woke up the next day
Filled with cotton and dust

But not it is winter
The days are now cold
The wind is glass
The grass is glass
